Crashes, Arrests, Court Dates

State police reported the following highway stops, court citations, and crashes between July 6 and 10:

State police learned of a two-vehicle crash on South Hill Road in Williamstown, on July 10, at 9:20 p.m. Investigation revealed that Dennis Henry, 43, was driving a Chevy Tahoe, and Chad Russo, 29, drove a Chevy pickup. Both drivers are from Williamstown.

Police said Henry was traveling north when he collided with Russo going in the opposite direction. Both vehicles had bumper, body, and tire damage from the crash; police reported no injuries as a result of the crash. Police described road conditions as clear and dry.

Henry did not stop at the scene and was found later at a Route 14 address. Police said Henry was unable to perform field sobriety tests, and police found that his driver’s license was criminally suspended.

Trooper Gallant took Henry to the state police barracks for processing, and cited him to court on the charges of DUI, fifth offense; leaving the scene of an accident; and driving with license suspended.

Crash in Royalton

On July 6, at 7 a.m., state police responded to a two-car crash at the junction of Route 107 and Christian Hill Road in Royalton. According to the investigation, Stephanie Perkins, 26, of Bethel, was stopped in traffic to allow a vehicle in front of her to turn onto Christian Hill Road when Zebulon Washburn, 36, of Rochester, hit her car from behind.

Both drivers wore seatbelts at the time of the crash; police reported no injuries. Police described the conditions as clear and dry. Wreckers removed both vehicles.

DUI Arrests

State police responded to a crash on Upper Village Road in Chelsea, at 7:42 p.m. on July 6. One of the drivers, Robert Royce, 57, of Washington, was found to be under the influence of alcohol, police said. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI, taken to the Sheriff’s Department for processing, and released with a citation to appear in court.

State police stopped Katherine Lamson on Royalton Hill Road in Royalton for a traffic violation on July 8 at 10:13 p.m. Investigation revealed that Lamson, 36, of South Royalton, was under the influence of alcohol. Police arrested Lamson and cited her to court.

DLS, Speeding

On July 8, state troopers stopped for a vehicle broken down on Interstate 91 in Hartford, on July 8. Investigation revealed the driver, Philip Mahoney, 64, of Roxbury, was driving criminally without a license. Mahoney was arrested, processed and released with a criminal citation to appear in court.

On July 10, at 2:30 p.m., state police learned of a car being driven at high speed on I-89 in Sharon. The witness stated that he believed the car was going over 100 mph. Police stopped the vehicle in Royalton. Based on an initial investigation, Michael T. Angel, 24, of Essex Junction, was cited to criminal court on the charge of negligent operation.

The printed version of this story reversed the names in the "Crash in Royalton" item, due to an error in the VSP release. It was Perkins' car that was stopped and was hit from behind.
