Vital Communities will celebrate the graduation of Elizabeth McShinskey of Sharon and 29 other participants in its Leadership Upper Valley Class of 2017 next Wednesday, June 14, in a commencement ceremony at Harpoon Brewery.

McShinskey is one of the region’s “emerging local leaders” who will graduate from the professional and personal development program, according to a press release from the non-profit Vital Communities in White River Junction.

Leadership Upper Valley is a 10-month program that runs from September through June each year. Accepted residents and employees within Vital Communities’ 69-town service area spend one intensive day each month learning in-depth about a different regional issue from topic-area experts.

“Leadership Upper Valley has been opening minds and hearts to the region’s challenges and inspiring innovative solutions from emerging local leaders for more than a decade,” said Leadership Upper Valley Manager Stacey Glazer.

“This year’s class included … participants from some of the area’s largest employers, small businesses, local nonprofit organizations, schools, and municipalities,” said Glazer. “We’re thrilled to expand our ranks of alumni to nearly 250 with the members of the Leadership Upper Valley Class of 2017.”

Vital Communities, a nonprofit organization in White River Junction, brings together citizens, organizations, and municipalities to address issues with “an independent voice and regional approach.”
