The snowstorm early this week, while creating travel and logistics problems as they all do, was welcome by many, especially after last year’s almost total lack of snowfall. There is now a nice layer of powder over the crusty ice from the week before. Kudos to the our amazing Vershire road crew for keeping things clear.

Speaking of road conditions, the rapidly deteriorating status of Route 113 through Vershire has been the subject of much listserve discussion as of late. In response to an inquiry from a Vershire resident, the Agency of Transportation provided a thorough and thoughtful explanation of what is going on, and the steps that will be taken to remediate the problem. A copy of this response can be found in the town clerk’s office.
