Seventeen jobs at the Bethel granite quarry are here to stay following the sale of the Rock of Ages corporation and its NH-based parent company, Swenson Granite, to the Quebec-based Polycor.

“The quarry will remain open and fully staffed,” said Robert J. Campo, senior vice president of Rock of Ages’ quarry division. “[Bethel White] remains a highly sought-after product that continues to be used for prestigious products around the world,” he said.

Permanently opened in 1902, the Bethel quarry produces “Bethel White” stone; renowned for its striking white color, Bethel White has been used in the Mormon Bountiful Temple in Salt Lake City, the Wisconsin State Capitol, Union Station in Washington D.C., and La Grande Arche de la Défense in Paris.
