Shindig Season Begins Nov. 4 in Tunbridge

The 10th season of the Tunbridge Town Hall Shindigs will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, with Mo- Combo and the Little Town Horns.

The band is based out of the Upper Valley/Lake Sunapee region and will offer a night of driving rhythms, soulful harmonies and funky grooves, all designed to get folks moving on the dance floor. Check them out at www.mocomboband.com.

The Shindigs are a series of dances held at the Tunbridge Town Hall from November through April, always on the first Saturdays of the month.

The musical genre ranges from good ol’ rock n’ roll, R&B and funk, to honky tonk and rock-a-billy. The bands play for the cover charge— once the hall rental and insurance money are collected, the rest goes to the band. Entrance will be through the downstairs door for all dances this season. The downstairs offers a quieter place for visiting, a pot-luck munchie table and space to leave coats and coolers. This leaves the upstairs open for dancing.

During the last season, Shindig organizer, Janet Zug, was looking for someone to take it all over. Many folks spoke up in protest of the end of the Shindigs and there were offers of assistance to keep it going; then Jenn Hayseltt volunteered to organize the volunteers.

If you are interested in helping to put on the Shindigs, contact Hayseltt directly at jhayslettubell@gmail.com. For general information or to inquire about playing for a Shindig, contact Zug at shindigsvt@hotmail.com.

“The number-one thing you can do to keep the Shindigs going is to show up to dance, enjoy, and help create that Shindig Magic!” Zug said.
