Rockets Have Mixed Week on Roadlooked

(Herald / Joyce Hunt) Rochester took to the road last week for three games. The first game found the Rockets in Chelsea to play the Red Devils. Rochester got out to an 8-1 lead and held on to lead 10-5 at the end of the first quarter. Behind 10 points by Pavin Parrish, Rochester was able to grab a small 25-17 lead at halftime. Nei­ther team seemed able to develop any offensive rhythm.

Rochester came out running in the second half. Parrish scored 13 more points, helping to push the Rockets out to a 1- point lead head­ing into the fourth quarter. Roches­ter added another 18 points in the fourth and won 60-34.

Parrish led Rochester with 29 points. Gavin Curtis and Clay Walk­er each added 8 points. Mike Smith passed for six assists and Tanner Pratt grabbed 11 rebounds. Parrish and Curtis each had five steals. Sharon

Next on the week was Sharon. Rochester came out with a lot of energy, outscoring Sharon 19-8 in the first quarter. The Rockets never looked back, as they scored anoth­er 20 points in the second quarter to lead 39-13 at halftime. Parrish had 18 points and Clay Walker had 10 to pace the Rockets.

Rochester continued to play well in the second half and won the game, 66-28. Parrish finished with 27 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Walker chipped in 13 points, three assists, and three steals. Mike Smith had 12 points, six rebounds, and seven as­sists while Derrick Gendron scored eight points and grabbed seven re­bounds off the bench.

Loss to Websterville

Rochester ended the week go­ing to Spaulding High School to play Websterville. The Warriors to take control early, build­ing a 10-3 lead midway through the first quarter. The Rockets finally got it together and to a 13-12 lead early in the second quarter. Behind the scoring and rebounding by 6’9” Andrew Shuman and Jordan Tillis, Websterville finished the half on a 19-2 run to take a commanding 31- 15 lead into halftime.

The Rockets started out slow in the third and fell behind by 19 points. But Rochester wasn’t going to give up and started clawing their way back into the game. They man­aged to cut the lead to 10 to start the fourth. Rochester was able to cut the lead to nine before Webster­ville put the game away and won 67-50.

Parrish led Rochester with 27 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. Pratt added nine points and five rebounds. Rochester con­tinues on the road this week with back-to-back games Friday and Saturday versus Whitcomb and Wil­liamstown.
