Edith Barcomb
East Bridgewater, Mass.— Edith Barcomb, 96, of East Bridgewater, Mass,, and formerly of Randolph, Vt., died Sunday morning, Feb. 12, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, Mass.
She was born October 27, 1915 in Derby, Vt.; the daughter of Joseph and Jennie (Favereau) Chaloux. She graduated from Randolph High School and lived in Randolph until moving to East Bridgewater in 1980. She married Wilmer Barcomb in Randolph on April 23, 1948.
Edith had worked for Van- Raalte Industries, Belmain’s Department Store, Red and White, and Waterbury Plastics before retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Donatian & Rogation Catholic Church in Randolph, that church’s Lady’s Guild, and was a former member of the St. Jean DeBaptiste Society and Randolph Senior Center. Edith enjoyed gardening, sewing, and being involved with her family. Edith’s joy was her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Smith and her husband, Charles; granddaughters, Alysha Smith Zipeto and her husband, Anthony, and Allyson Smith, all of East Bridgewater; many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed each one of them, and fondly told stories of their accomplishments. She was predeceased by her husband in 1973; brothers, Wilfred, Wilbridge, Pierre, and Rosario “Pete” Chaloux; and sisters, Rose Greenwood, Bernadette Duto, Antoinette Duchaine-Betit, Lillian Cote, and Leona Gratton.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Randolph, with Rev. John Milanese officiating. Calling hours are from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. Burial will be in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Randolph.
