Stockbridge Selex

The following summary of the Stockbridge Selectboard’s January 19 meeting was written from minutes submitted to The Herald.

Larry Pleasant spoke on behalf of the recently formed Green Mountain Valley Business Community, which includes the Route 100 towns from Pittsfield to Granville. They are currently working to have these towns added to the Route 100 Scenic Byway, which is a marketing program designed to get tourists off the interstates and on to secondary roads. There are currently nine byways in the state of Vermont. They are eligible for federal grants and there are no restrictions or costs to the towns.

The board supported the proposal and will send a letter agreeing to participate. Janet Whitaker agreed to serve as the town representative.

The board signed a municipal certificate as to municipal bond for the refunding, which will result in reduced bond payments for the town. In addition, a contract for debris removal was signed, awarding the project to Harvey’s.

The board signed the Assurances Relating to Real Property Acquisition for the Fischer EWP Streambank Protection grant.

The 2012 budget was approved at $791,951, which is slightly less than the 2011 budget.

The board will hold an informational hearing prior to the annual meeting on Thursday, March 1 at 7 p.m.
