Vershire

It seems like we’ve been on a weather yo-yo this past week or so, with sub-zero temperatures one night, then rain and in the 30s the next. We just get a nice bit of snow on the ground, and then rain or sleet comes along to mess things up. As my daughter would say, the weather sure has been “fickle pickle.”

The Church-Orr House was bustling last week at the monthly soup night. At one point, every seat was filled, and several conversations were floating about the room. It was great to see neighbors there who haven’t been for a while. This time of year, as cabin fever sets in, it is more important than ever to make an effort to get out and about, and perhaps offer a ride to a neighbor who doesn’t get around as easily. Among the soup offerings last Thursday was a delicious venison stew. Foods made with locally grown (or hunted) ingredients are always the best.

Next Wednesday is the first of the month, so the Vershire Town Center will be filled with the delicious smells of the monthly senior/ community lunch. This is another opportunity to get out of the house and see how friends and neighbors are doing. As with soup night meals, delivery is available to those who cannot make it. Please contact me if you would like a meal delivered, or perhaps need a ride.

I am always looking for news tidbits from Vershire to share. Feel free to contact me with any items you would like to see in this space.
