East Barnard

Marjorie Van Alstyne 763-7036

Those from East Barnard attend- ing the Bethel Historical Society’s quilt show at the Bethel Town Hall Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 22 and 23, included Charlotte Croft, Polly Leavitt, Joani Yankee, and Virginia Schlabach. They joined other mem- bers of the Delectable Mountain Quilters at the “Quilts and Connec- tions” flood story exhibits.

DMQ’s display highlighted the group making over 60 comfort quilts in the past four months for Irene flood victims in Bethel and five other areas. The members dem- onstrated how to tie quilts and had a very successful day.

The new book about houses in East Barnard will be worked on this winter and hopefully will be ready for sale this coming summer. Also members of the community club are working on the club’s quilt to be raffled off at the smorgasbord supper in August. The hall will be all fixed up and ready for activities this summer. One highlight will be the National Association of Leavitt Families meeting in East Barnard in June.
