On Sunday, Don Lovejoy and Todd Swasey went to Springfield, Mass., where they visited the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Afterwards they went to an auto parts flea market on the Big E grounds. On the way home they stopped at Don’s cousin’s home in Chesterfield, N.H. for supper.

On Sunday, Jim and I ventured over the newly opened Route 107 to Rutland—the first time we have ventured that way since Irene came through. The temporary bridge in Bethel feels so much safer than the old one, and from there on, the improvements were continuous. The equipment parked near the biggest reconstruction areas must really raise interest in the little boys, as it sparked quite a twinkle in my big boys’ eyes! Much is still to be done, but all that has taken place is truly miraculous.

What has you excited these gray winter days? Well, I am quite excited about the upcoming wine tasting benefit fundraiser being hosted by the staff at 5 Olde Tavern Monday, Jan. 30 from 5-7 p.m. This is the first in a monthly series, with The White River Partnership being the charity of choice this month, the Heartland Lions Club next month, and David’s House slated for March. Tickets can be purchased at 5 Olde Tavern and the South Royalton Market. Please come out and support these worthy nonprofits while enjoying wines and appetizers. Any wines you like can be ordered through South Royalton Market at a 10% discount the night of the event, for pick-up later.
