The Mother of 10, Now College Grad
By Martha Slater

Like the mother of any new college graduate, Marilyn Vesper of Tunbridge is proud of her oldest daughter, Susan Boles. A recent graduate of the nursing program at Claremont Technical College in Claremont, N.H., Boles passed her boards July 12 and is now a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Taking care of people in her new profession won't be anything new for Boles, a West Lebanon resident. A 51-year-old single mother, she has 10 children and eight grandchildren.

Boles' four oldest children (Joshua, Phoebe, Annie and Meghan) are grown and married and all, except for Joshua, who lives in Houston, Texas) have stayed in the area. The two youngest, David and Molly, attend South Royalton High School and live with their dad in Tunbridge. The remaining four include Sarah, who is a senior in the nursing program at Castleton State College; Deborah, who attends college in South Carolina; Robin, who works in West Lebanon; and John, who works building houses for his father in Tunbridge.

Working at a job while she also studied, it took Boles three years to complete her degree. Since her graduation, she has been busy sending out her resume and looking for a job. She hopes to be hired by either the Alice Peck Day Hospital or the Veteran's Administration Hospital in White River Junction.
