News of Area Students

David Hamberlin of Rochester, the son of Larry Hamberlin and Cynthia Huard, was named a College Scholar during the 2007 spring term at Middlebury College. As the highest recognition for academic achievement at Middlebury, a College Scholar must carry a full course load of four or more classes during the semester, achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or higher and earn no grade lower than a "B-."

Rebecca Bingham, daughter of Steven and Luann Bingham of South Royalton, was named to the Dean's List of UVM's College of Education & Social Services, where she is working towards her Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education. She is expected to graduate from UVM in May 2008 and graduated from South Royalton High School in 2004.

Richard M. Whitney of Brookfield was named to the Dean's List of the fall 2006 semester at Westfield State College in Westfield, Mass., where he is majoring in criminal justice.

Emily Ellis of South Royalton was named to the Dean's List for the spring semester at the State University of New York at Cortland, where she is majoring in musical theater.

Jamie Lee Kinnarney of Bethel graduated magna cum laude May 13 from Lyndon State College. A 2003 graduate of South Royalton High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in allied health science. She was also awarded the Rita L. Bole Award for outstanding scholarship and was named a Martha E. Wood P.E.T.E. Scholar.
