Hannah Jeffery RANDOLPH- Hannah McIntyre Jeffery, 85, died peacefully Wednesday evening, May 30, 2007 at Gifford Medical Center after a battle with multiple medical issues. She was born March 12, 1922 in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Dr. Henry B. and Gladys (Miller) McIntyre. She was known in her community for serving two threeyear terms on the Randolph Selectboard, as a candidate for the Vermont House of Representatives, and for her association with Chandler Music Hall. She spent time as a Girl Scout troop leader, on the Randolph Board of Civil Authority, and on the board of directors of the Lamson Howell Foundation. She continued to golf daily through last summer. She also continued with her music, playing cello, saxophone and clarinet for many years with the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra, South Royalton Town Band, and the Upper Valley Band. She was known for her cooking and loved gardening. In the mid-1990s, she successfully completed a Master Gardening course. She also went back to school to become computer literate. After completing a Vermont Tech computer course, she enjoyed staying in touch with friends and relatives all over the world, using her own computer. Over the years, Hannah and her late husband, career Navy man Bob Jeffery (U.S. Naval Academy 1940) lived in and traveled to many far flung places around the world, keeping up friendships. In the spring of 2006, she and her daughter Cid took a cruise from Lisbon, Portugal to the Azore Islands. Survivors included two daughters, Cid and her husband Harry Southworth of Lancaster, N.H.; and Nan Gwin of Randolph; a brother, Hugh McIntyre and his wife, Eleanor, of Montpelier; a sister, Harriet McIntyre Ward and her husband, Dr. Joe Ward, of Concord, N.H.; three grand children; four greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews scattered from Maine to New Dehli, India. There will be a celebration of her life Saturday, June 16 from 1-4 p.m. at her home at 2968 Fish Hill Road in Randolph. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Montague Golf Course in Randolph, Vt. 05060; or to the Upper Valley Band, c/o Carole Blake, 143 Worcester Ave., White River Jct., Vt. 05001.
