Birthday Present From His Town

This past Saturday I was celebrating a significant birthday and before it arrived our family considered various options including a trip to Fenway to see the Sox- Yankees or travel to Montreal.

We decided, however that we would forego such plans and spend the weekend right here in Randolph and the town did not disappoint.

First on Saturday my son pitched well in a tightly fought Little League contest which his team won in extra innings. After ice cream cones at Tewksbury's we drove up the hill to Tuckers, where we purchased garden plants and some lilacs for planting.

In the evening we enjoyed dinner under the tent at the Three Stallion Inn before attending a special performance of the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra at Chandler Hall, featuring music by Edward Elgar on his 150th birthday and the town's own Marjorie Drysdale singing music by Richard Strauss. In short, this town gave me a great birthday present!
