Impaired and unbuckled operators and passengers will be the primary targets of this enforcement effort, state police said this week.

Last Tuesday, the Barnard General Store closed, and went out with a bang with a very crowded Burger Night, when they sold out of about 200 local burgers. It was quite a party, with musicians both inside and outside on the porch.

In Australian balloting held Tuesday, May 15, Rochester voters voted 76-59 to approve the school board’s bond request for an amount “not to exceed $250,000” for the purpose of making needed improvements to the elementary and high school buildings.

The school’s maintenance director Tim Dunham spoke with the board about the details of the asbestos removal and re-lighting project.

Red Cross Blood Drive Nets 41 Pints

The Red Cross Blood Drive held Friday, May 4 at the Rochester Federated Church collected 41 pints of blood.

Organizer Eva Jesso expressed her gratitude for the blood donors, and the volunteers who furnished food for the canteen and gave their time working at the drive to make it very successful.

The next blood drive in Rochester will be Friday, October 12.

Credit Union and Park House Start Business Recycling Program

The Rochester Farm/School Community will host its second annual Farm Fling event Monday, June 4 at the Rochester School.

Events will take place all day at the school, concluding with a public farmers market from 3:30-5 p.m. on the lawn by the greenhouse at the elementary building.

“Dug Up” is “almost done,” said movie director Dustin Rikert, a Vermont native and graduate of South Royalton High School.

Rikert graduated from the University of South California Film School in 1997 and was voted one of the USC “Outstanding Seniors.”

Back River Road Is Now Open

The Back River Road reconstruction has been completed and the road is open to traffic.

The project completed rebuilding a 1300-ft. section of road that was destroyed by flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene.
