What’s New With You?

One of the main systems of news-gathering at the Herald is a network of “correspondents”—folks in your community who collect news from local individuals, organizations and town officials and forward it on to the paper for weekly publication.

These neighborhood reporters are a diverse and interesting lot and each has an individual style of news-gathering and writing. Some spend hours every Sunday night calling neighbors for news, some have trained their constituency to call in their items. Many of our correspondents have taken the time to establish contacts with various groups in town—from the 4-H and the Ladies Aid to the local school and the Selectmen.

If a member of your family has done something of note—begun or completed some project or perhaps earned some special recognition, call your correspondent and let them know.

If your group or organization is planning a special event or program, let your correspondent know so that the achievements of your group may be published in the community.

If you are a town official or local employer, take time to recognize the achievements of students, committees and employees. The newspaper, through the channel of your neighborhood correspondent, provides you with a readily available system of dissemination.

Since most of the correspondents do send in their news on Monday, it is important that items be in their hands early enough to guarantee that the news arrives at the Herald on time and in good order.
