Legislative Heads
Only Enviro Lobby

The Democrat-controlled Vermont legislature is apparently on a crusade to shut down Vermont Yankee nuclear facility when its lease expires a few years hence. This, despite the fact that it represents one-third of Vermont’s energy supply, and is by far its least expensive and cleanest source of power. How can this be?

Apparently, the left-leaning environmental lobby would much prefer solar and wind but certainly not nuclear, fossil fuel, or even wood to serve the energy needs of the state. An energy policy for Vernont that does not include nuclear or fossil fuels in the mix for the foreseeable future is clearly impractical and would, if implemented, do great harm to the Vermont economy and the well-being of its citizens.

Of course when you are an environmental zealot, or a friend in the legislature who wants to be clothed in the environmental mantle, these practical matters of how the average Joe makes his living or heats his house are of little importance.

One way to fight this blatant pandering to the environmental lobby by the legislature is to elect some sensible people in November and that of course, does not include those in the legislature who continue to beat up on Vermont Yankee.
