‘Piano Stories’ As part of their summer performance series at Skinner Barn in Waitsfield, the Commons Group will present Rochester-based performers Ethan Bowen, Larry Hamberlin and Cynthia Huard in "Piano Stories," for four nights only, August 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 8 p.m. Founded in 1994, "Piano Stories" is based on the belief that great music opens the heart to great works of literature, and the objective is to interweave classic short works of fiction with just the right music of the great composers. The result is an intense, amusing, vivid theatrical event. Sell-out performances with Burlington First Night, the White River Valley Players, and Vermont Stage Company have established "Piano Stories"’ reputation for sensitive and evocative interpretations. On August 11 and 12, the works to be performed include Anton Chekhov’s "Lady With Lapdog," set to the music of Peter Illych Tchaikovsky; and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s "Bernice Bobs Her Hair," set to the music of George Gershwin. On August 18 and 19, the featured performances will be Jack London’s "Smoke Bellew," set to the music of Louis Moureau Gottschalk; and Daphne Du Maurier’s "The Birds," set to the music of Robert Schumann.
