The Randolph varsity softball team suffered a devastating loss to Milton in the first round of the playoffs last Thursday. The team had high hopes but couldn't make it through the first round.

Randolph started off well, scoring a run in the first inning on two walks and a couple of pass balls. Randolph added another run in the second on a hit, a stolen base, and a pass ball.

The Ghosts’ defense was strong in the first two innings but in the third inning it got a bit shaky. Milton pushed two runs across the plate on two hits and a defensive error by Randolph. The fourth and fifth innings were solid for both teams defensively, as neither was able to score. Milton managed to score again in the sixth, putting them on top 3-2, when they scored on a hit to left field and another Randolph error. The Ghosts held Milton off in the top of the seventh but were unable to score themselves. RUHS lost 3-2.

Ashley Chase was 2-3. Amanda Angell pitched for Randolph, going 7 IP, 7 H, 2 K. For the five seniors on the team, Amanda Angell, Andrea Chase, Ashley Chase, Gwen Reis, and Amanda Gersteinmaier, this was their final game at RUHS and they deserve to be recognized for all their hard work throughout their four years.
