Adam J. Doyle

CHELSEA—Adam J. Doyle, 30, died Thursday morning, May 29, 2008 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident.

He was born October 17, 1977 in Berlin, the son of Andrew and Alice (Hayward) Doyle. He grew up in Chelsea and attended Chelsea High School and then the Randolph Area Vocational Center, where he studied auto mechanics and machine shop. Following his graduation, he went to work for a short time at Porter’s Music Box in Randolph as a machinist.

Over the next several years he worked at several different occupations, as a carpenter, a painter and an auto mechanic. He lived for a short time in Tennessee, where he worked installing electrical devices and in construction. He also worked at a metal fabricating shop in Barre. He worked the longest at his most recent job as a counselor for troubled youth at Brookhaven Home for Boys in Chelsea. He found the work both challenging and rewarding. He relied on his own past experiences to help him relate to each boy individually and in a unique way.

He enjoyed music and liked to make his own guitars and amplifiers. He was good with his hands. He liked to take things apart and fix them. This included his motorcycles, instruments, electronics and four-wheel drive vehicles that he and his friends would take "jeepin’."

Survivors include his parents of Chelsea; his paternal grandparents, Merlin "Tuffy" and Alice Doyle of Chelsea; his maternal grandmother, Betty Hayward of Chelsea; his sister, April Doyle of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Amos Doyle of Chelsea, and his adopted sister, Amy Hayden of Barre; a nephew, Nicholas Doyle of Chelsea; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

There were no calling hours. A memorial service was held Sunday afternoon, June 1 at the Kingdom Hall in Royalton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to SpayEd, P.O. Box 457, Brookfield, Vt. 05036; or to Brookhaven Home for Boys, Vt. Route 110, Chelsea, Vt. 05038.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea.
