Warren Norton

RANDOLPH—Warren Norton, 95, died at his home on May 17, 2008, after a short illness.

He was born in Vergennes March 22, 1913, to Clinton M. Norton and Florence (Laramie) Norton.

After graduating from Randolph High School in 1931, he worked at Salisbury’s Mill. He served in the military for four years during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific.

Upon his return to Randolph, he worked for a short time at Sargent-Roundy Corp. For several years, he was freight office agent for the Central Vermont Railway. He then worked at Randolph National Bank in town and was manager at the South Royalton branch office until his retirement.

His interests and hobbies included hunting, fishing, ice skating, woodworking, horseshoes and gardening. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and the local Fish and Game Club.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Kenneth E. Norton, of Randolph.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, the former Laura Walbridge; nieces Dorrene Norton Wait of Phoenix, Ariz. and Susan Higgins of Montpelier; and cousin Shirley Vaux of St. George.

The Day Funeral Home in Randolph was in charge of arrangements. A graveside service was held Wednesday, May 21 at the Pleasant View Cemetery.
