"I think the people of this state are ready for a change and a sense that someone is providing leadership" (Gaye Symington). Well, that would be a change: Gaye Symington providing leadership. Where, one may ask, and when, over the past four years, did Ms. Symington ever produce a single creative idea? Or legislation that would have benefited the hard working men and women of "this state," Vermont? Instead, what we have seen is reactionary whining; as she and her complement in the senate, Peter Shumlin, have only negatively reacted to any proposals put forth by Gov. Jim Douglas. It would appear that the main thrust of both Symington and Shumlin is to align solely with special interest groups. Identity politics is their ideology and that ideology usually costs the already overburdened Vermont taxpayer dearly. Let’s take for example, Vermont Yankee, (Shumlin’s constituency) which they want to close down. However, it is not once mentioned how, or with what, that plant’s cheap power is to be replaced.
