Randolph Union High School track athletes set several new personal records in events at U-32 this past Wednesday. Senior Danielle Galbreath threw the javelin 52 feet, 2 inches and put the shot 17 feet, 8 inches. In the 200-meter dash, junior Liz Douville ran a 34.8. She also earned a second personal best in shot put at 21 feet, 5 inches.

Sophomore Ethan Barrett and freshman Phil Lease ran in the 1500 for their first efforts at that event. Barrett finished in 6:02 and Lease in 6:57. The two returned to finish javelin and also threw new bests, at 68 feet 8 inches and 57 feet 7 inches, respectively. Lease earned a third personal tops in shot put at 21 feet, 5 inches.

At the Burlington Invitational on Friday and Saturday against athletes from all divisions in Vermont, Jake Zani competed in the Freshman Showcase 100 meter dash. His preliminary heat time of 13.02 sent him to the finals where he bested that with a 12.97 and earned a very close eighth place. He was .05 seconds out of fifth and only .5 second behind the first place finisher.

Senior Holly Mugford competed in javelin and shot put and in shot, she earned 11th with a 25 feet 5 inch mark. Against a cold and strong headwind, Mugford consistently threw the javelin over 90 feet and earned a trip to the medal stand for fourth place with her 100 feet, three inch throw. Coach Richburg competed in the masters' mile and finished third woman with a 6:34.

The high school athletes compete at St. Johnsbury on Tuesday, U-32 on Friday, and in the Monster Meet at U-32 next Wednesday. The junior high team has their first meet at Peoples Academy on Wednesday this week.
