Welch and Sanders Our Congressman, Peter Welch, will be at Rinker’s this Friday, May 9, from 2 to 3 p.m. to hear from his constituents. Here’s a wonderful opportunity to let him know what issues are important to you and your families. It is very helpful to elected officials to hear directly from the people they represent, so I urge you to take advantage of this time to chat with Congressman Welch. The next day, Saturday May 10, Sen. Sanders will be holding three "Town Meetings on Senior Issues." Barbara Kennelly, president of the National Committee to Protect Social Security and Medicare, has agreed to present at each meeting. Sanders and Ms. Kennelly will take questions and comments from the audience. These meetings are a great opportunity for Sen. Sanders to hear directly from Vermont seniors and to discuss what is happening in Washington. Here are the nearby locations for people in our area: MONTPELIER, at the National Life cafeteria, 12 noon lunch is served (no charge), 12:30 p.m.—meeting begins; WHITE RIVER JCT., at the American Legion Post 26, 129 South Main Street. Free dinner at 5:30 and meeting at 6. All meetings are free and open to the public. RSVP is requested but not required at 1-800-339-9843. Patsy French Randolph |
