Paul A. Webster

 

RANDOLPH—Paul A. Webster, 94, died Friday evening, April 18, 2008, at his home in Randolph.

He was born December 25, 1913, in Braintree, the son of Glenn and Annie (Howard) Webster.

He attended Randolph schools and graduated from Randolph High School in 1932. He then attended Vermont Agricultural School (now Vermont Technical College). Following his education, he married Lucille Warner February 17, 1935, in Randolph. She died in 2000. They bought a farm on Braintree Hill which they operated until moving back to Randolph where he took over his grandfather’s farm.

He was a pioneer in the field of artificial insemination of cattle. He also owned and operated Webster’s Farm Machinery. He loved children. He also enjoyed sugaring and watching the growth of plants and animals. In earlier years, he was very proud of his horses. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ and a former member of several agricultural organizations.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Roberts of Randolph; three sons, Neil Webster of Dallas, Texas, Philip Webster of Essex Junction, and Duane Webster of Randolph; a brother, Fred Webster of Williston; a sister, Hazel Prindle of Morrisville; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-mother, Ruby (Billings) Webster; and his sister, Helen Wakefield.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, April 22, at the Day Funeral Home, with Rev. Kathy Eddy officiating. Phyllis Hawley was the organist. Remembrances were shared by his son, Neil, and memories from grandchildren Glenn, Sandra, David and great-grandchildren John and Lauren were read. Rev. Kathy Eddy gave the eulogy, remembering him as a "great storyteller."

Burial followed at South View Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brian Webster, Glenn Webster, Eric Webster, David Roberts, John Roberts, Steve Roberts, Keith Mosher and Cory Healy. A reception followed at the Bethany United Church of Christ. Calling hours were held Monday evening at the Day Funeral Home.
