Chandler Commissions The Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph will commission a "Centennial Art" piece to commemorate 100 years of celebrating the arts and reaffirm its commitment to supporting visual artists. "We are looking for artists to submit proposals for a work of art which will be permanently displayed within our interior as part of the 2009-10 renovation of the historic Chandler Music Hall and Gallery," said Betsy Cantlin. The selection process will be in two parts. Initially artists are asked to submit a simple description of their proposal and their qualifications by May 1. Finalists will be notified by May 15. These artists will be given a stipend and asked to create an inspiring visual representation of their project for the Chandler Centennial Commission Exhibit which opens June 28. Proposals can be for the area above the renovated staircase to the new lower lobby, or another appropriate site within the public areas of the building. Proposals can be made for any medium and there is a project budget of up to $20,000 to complete the selected piece. Application forms and more information may be requested from Betsy Cantlin Chandler’s Community Coordinator by e-mailing her at outreach@chandlerarts. org or by leaving a message at 728-9878. ____________ |
