I’m confused. In 1990 the Vermont Agency of Transportation declared the River Street bridge in Bethel to be unsafe. In 2008 the V.A.O.T. said "most of the town bridges are in reasonably good condition." How did the River Street bridge recover? I got to thinking (a dangerous pastime). I remembered the dedication ceremony of the new Church Street bridge. My parish priest, Fr. O’Leary, took part. So I wondered did some of the holy water he sprinkled fall into the third branch of the White River and flow down and "heal" the River Street bridge? If so, I was wondering if Fr. O’Leary could take a little of that water up to the Locust Creek bridges? Tom Brennan Bethel ____________ |
