MANOR, GA.—Alfred Raymond Kent, 73, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Ga., after a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1935 in Dover, N.H. to Harold S. Franklin Kent and Eleanor Syble Colburn Kent, and lived in Manor for the past 27 years. He enjoyed doing home repairs for people in the community. Survivors include two step-daughters, Betty Moore of Manor, Ga., and Jessie Simmons and husband, Robert, of Callahan, Fla.; three step-sons, James Thompson of Manor, Ga., William Thompson and wife, Sherrie, of Darien, Ga., and Terry Thompson, of Manor; three sisters, Polly Leavitt of South Royalton, Beverly Hawkes of Dyerbrook Maine, and Mildred Grous of Moosup, Conn.; one brother, Leonard Kent of Casagrande, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 18 at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel in Manor, Ga. Memorialization will be by cremation.
