Figures Confusing

Attention, taxpayers of Rochester!

In the 2007 Rochester Town Report, the income and expenses for next year’s budget both are $349,834, so that there is zero surplus or deficit.

In the column for the actual income and expenses, it shows income of $369,473 and expenses of $303,208 plus a truck purchase of $33,066. That should result in a surplus for the year of $33,198.

How does this compare with the bottom figures shown on the grand total as printed? This should be explained.
