Pittsfield Voters Pass School At their annual School District meeting, Pittsfield voters passed the proposed school budget of $778,986 on a voice vote. The only measure to be decided by a paper ballot was Article 5, which asked for "a sum not to exceed $5,000" to do a preliminary study on the advisability of governance alternatives with other town school districts. This passed 53-40. Kristen Sperber was elected to a one-year term on the school board and Raymond Price to a three-year term. Town Meeting The proposed town budget of $270,343.70 passed on a voice vote. Town officers elected included Peter Borden, selectboard for three years; Dennis O’Brien, lister; Pat Fuster, auditor; Patricia Haskins, town clerk and town treasurer; Henry Hotchkiss, trustee of public funds; Karen Butterhoff-Waterworth and April Hayden, library trustees; Timothy Hunt, first constable; Doug Mianelli, second constable; Robert Colton, grand juror; Sarah Gray, town agent; Melvin Colton, cemetery commissioner; David Colton, fire chief; and Eunice MacDonald-Rice, collector of delinquent taxes. Voters authorized $20,000 for the office building reserve fund "for the purpose of renovation, expansion and/or building of a town clerk’s office to meet accessibility standards." They also okayed $10,000 for the highway equipment reserve fund, and $25,000 toward the purchase of a one-ton dual-wheel pickup truck for the fire department. The proposed ECFiberNet project was approved with a non-binding voice vote, with the selectboard authorized to act on behalf of the town. ____________ |
