Quayle Cornell RANDOLPH—Quayle H. Cornell, 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph. He was born October 12, 1917 in Panton, the son of Rev. George and Mabel Cornell. He graduated from Montpelier Seminary in 1937, then attended Cobleskill Agricultural College, graduating in 1939. He married Margaret Labare February 13, 1940 in Chazy, N.Y. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a florist for the Randolph Florist for several years before moving to Colchester, where he worked for Claussen’s Greenhouse until his retirement in 1982. He loved working with flowers and gardens. He also enjoyed reading and oil painting in his spare time. He especially loved having his grandchildren visit him. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Cornell of Randolph; two daughters, Cynthia Caswell of Milton and Ruth Peters of Randolph; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a niece, a nephew; and a special friend, Cheryl Rathbun. He was predeceased by two sons, Wayne and Donald Cornell; and a daughter, Elsie Cornell. Memorial services will be held Friday, June 6 at 2 p.m. at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Chapel in Randolph Center. Pastor Roger Wotton of the United Church of Randolph will officiate.
