RUTLAND—Eva M. Clewes, 91, died Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 27, 2008 at Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, N.H. She was born October 5, 1916 in Randolph, the daughter of Harry L. and Lena R. (Norman) Marcott. She graduated from Randolph High School, and married George W. Clewes in Randolph November 27, 1937. They lived in Rutland from 1939-50, then Middlebury/Weybridge until 1958, when they returned to Rutland. She had been the office manager for the dental practice of Dr. Lovett in Rutland for many years. Her husband died in 1992. She moved to the nursing home in North Haverhill in 2007. She was a member of the Grace Congregational Church in Rutland and enjoyed taking care of her home. Survivors include her son, Bill Clewes of Littleton, N.H.; a daughter, Roberta Meyer of Lafayette, Colo.; two nieces, Marilyn Seymour of North Clarendon, and Priscilla Stewart of Brookfield; and two nephews, John Alden of Alaska, and David Dyer. She was predeceased by her sisters, Alfa M. Alden and Marjorie Dyer. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 29 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Randolph.
