‘100’ Exhibit Shows Student Art at Chandler Gallery More Than 100 local art students will be exhibiting their work at Chandler Gallery this March in the exhibit "100," celebrating Chandler’s Centennial. Their work relates to the number 100 or the spirit of creativity that Chandler has inspired in our communities over the past century. That theme might look like 100 birthday candles on sculptures of birthday cakes created by Randolph Elementary School first and second grade students. It could also take the form of 100 pencil drawings by students in Braintree, Roxbury Elementary and Sharon Elementary Schools or a 100-block quilt created by students in South Royalton. Students have used their expressive tools of watercolor, oil, pastel, paper maché and clay in creating this tribute to Chandler’s support of the Arts In Education. This annual exhibit has been a fixture in the Gallery schedule for more than 25 years and this year coincides with Youth Art Month, a nationwide celebration of the Arts In Education. The opening reception for the artists and the community will be Friday, March 7 from 5-7 p.m., followed by the Mini Mud student talent show. You can view this lively diverse collection of student work that includes masks, watercolors of State Birds, and polar bear sculptures through Sunday, March 30. Stop by the opening Friday to decorate and eat one of 100 cupcakes or sign a giant Birthday card to help us celebrate Chandler’s Centennial and the Arts In Education. For more information, call Rebbie Carleton at 728-9555 or 234-5516 or Betsy Cantlin at 728- 9878. ____________ |
