Natalie MacMaster Returns To Chandler Music Hall
While February produced yet more snow, Natalie MacMaster heated up the house, bringing two packed Chandler Music Hall crowds to their feet in dancing jubilation Tuesday and Wednesday.
The legendary Cape Breton fiddling of MacMaster is twined on this tour with exceptional talent in each musical voice. Bassist Shane Hendrickson hales from Vancouver, B.C. Percussionist, JD Blair is from Nashville. Cape Breton neighbor Mac Morin plays piano like nobody’s business.
Fourteen-year-old cello "phenom" Nathaniel Smith is from Mississippi. And the versatile Matt MacIsaac, also from Cape Breton, offers up pipes, whistles, flutes, banjo, and anything else needed. Natalie’s two-year-old daughter Mary Frances contemplated the possibility of dancing onstage, much to her delight as well as the audience’s.
Finally, the alpha and omega of this show is Natalie...a fusion of milk and honey with fiddlin’ so hot you’d swear a deal was made with the devil.
