Ghosts Win 2 out of 5
By David Cooch

Randolph picked up two key wins to close out the regular season en route to a 6-14 regular season record and a 13th place playoff berth. These wins came in a streak where Randolph played five games in six days.

Mount Abraham Game

Randolph traveled up to #1 seeded Mt. Abraham on Thursday and tipped off at 4 p.m. due to scheduling purposes. Randolph came out prepared and ran with the Eagles the entire game. They limited their opponents to only five three-pointers, and were able to work the ball around well against the Eagles man-to-man defense.

After the Mt. Abe lead nearly climbed to double digits, Randolph came back and found themselves ahead by one midway through the fourth. However Mt. Abe regained the lead, and Randolph was forced to foul to get the ball back. The gap only grew larger as Mt. Abe made 16 points from the foul line in the fourth en route to a 62-46 win over the Ghosts.

The JV squad did not play.

Montpelier Game

The next day, the Randolph boys hosted Montpelier, and were looking to avenge their previous loss, one which saw Montpelier score over 80 points.

From the start, it was clear that it would be a defensive game, with no team coming close to 85 points. Randolph gained an early lead, and never lost it, except for a fourth quarter tie. Randolph controlled the boards, tempo, and ultimately the game.

Montpelier finally tied the game up late in the fourth, but Randolph held strong. Randolph converted on two possessions, forcing Montpelier to foul. Jason Hicks, in his first game back from an injury in two games, and Thomas Jacobs put the game away on the foul line and on rebounds. The game ended with Randolph winning 40-33.

The JV squad lost.

Win over Lamoille

The following day, Randolph played a home Saturday contest against Lamoille, who beat them narrowly in the first meeting. This game was to be a different story.

Randolph controlled the game with their defense again, and saw a very balanced scoring performance by their offense, sealing the 52-29 victory.

Jacobs led all scorers with 15, and teammates David Cooch and Dylan Smith added 12 apiece, as well as 10 from Jon White.

The JV lost their game.

Loss to Lyndon

Randolph took on Lyndon on Monday in a game that was moved to the Lyndon College. Randolph stayed close to the Vikings the entire match, but ultimately were unable to overcome the size difference, and the shooting of Lyndon.

After fouling to try to get back into the game in the late stages of the match, Randolph ended up losing 57-42.

Harwood Match

Randolph played their 20th and final game of the regular season away at Harwood. The game started out terribly for the Randolph squad, which failed to do a job on offense or defense. They were down 20-4 at the end of one quarter. In the second period, the Ghosts out-scored the Highlanders 14-10, and were down 30-18 at the half.

It was in the third quarter that Randolph staged their comeback. Shooting confidently, Randolph hit big shots to get within four points of Harwood. The comeback stopped abruptly though, and Harwood went on a gigantic run of their own to win the game by a score of 79-52.

The JV lost as well.
