On Saturday, Feb. 9 the Randolph wrestling team went to the NVACs.

First Place

Matt Simpson came in first in his weight class at 125. Simpson wrestled Troy Barrow of Mt. Mansfield first. Simpson had a pin with a time of 3:14 in the second period. This win put Simpson into the finals.

For Simpson’s finals’ match he wrestled Brandon Brill of Colchester. Simpson had wrestled him before, and had an idea of what the match was going to be like. Simpson won the match with a tech pin, 18-3, at the end in 6:00.

Third Place

David Maxfield also had a good day ending up with third in his weight class of 135. Maxfield’s first match was against Zed Benoit of Harwood. Maxfield had a takedown and a pin in :48. Maxfield then wrestled Jason Marko of Champlain Valley. Maxfield had another takedown and pin, this time in 1:37. Maxfield ended the match in the second period with a tech pin.

Steven Bent started off his day wrestling Steven Rich of Spaulding. Bent lost in the second period to a pin. Bent then wrestled Damian Strona of Vergennes. Bent lost by points at the end of the match.

Nathan Bacon wrestled Brett Tremblay of Spaulding first. Bacon lost to a pin in the first period. Bacon then wrestled Chuck Stinchfield of Vergennes. Bacon lost to a pin in the second period.

Good job wrestlers. Good luck for your last home meet Thursday, Feb. 14.
