STOCKBRIDGE—Wayne V. Pratt, 68, died Thursday morning Feb. 7, 2008 at his home. He was born August 24, 1939 in Stockbridge, the son of T. Chapin and Doris (Simonds) Pratt. A lifetime Stockbridge resident, he graduated from Whitcomb High School in Bethel. He married Vivian Lyman in Royalton on December 10, 1960. He worked as a carpenter with his father, and later on his own, building log cabin homes. He was a jouneyman electrician, and worked as a maintenance technician for the Vermont Department of Forest & Parks for 20 years, retiring in 2002. He served in the Army National Guard, and had been a member of the Randolph Rod & Gun Club and the Stockbridge Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his beagles, hang gliding, camping, and wood carving. Survivors include his wife, Vivian M. Pratt of Stockbridge: sons, Rodney Pratt and his companion, Sheila, of Stockbridge; and Craig Pratt and his wife, Tonia, of Bethel; daughters, Sherri Stratton and her husband, Denny, of Bethel; Teresa Stearns and her husband, Dean, of Sharon; and Kathi Pratt of Randolph; a brother, Chapin Pratt and his wife, Beverly, of The Villages, Fla.; sisters, Elizabeth Brown of Joanna, S.C.; and Virginia Merrill and her husband, Denny, of Ridgeway, Colo.; step-mother, Martha Pratt of St. Cloud, Fla.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22 at Maplewood Cemetery on Stockbridge Common. Calling hours were held Sunday evening, Feb. 10 at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
