Shut-Ins Benefit
From Shaws Offer

Along with many voluntary local members of the Vermont Sunshine Society, I send cards monthly to those celebrating birthdays, as well as notes and letters to many Sunshine friends. Since there are well over 600 members now, and each receives monthly the Gristmill newsletter, funding is always a problem. The Sunshine Society is a caring group of volunteers, which began in 1885, and down through the ages has been kept alive by many wonderful volunteers.

In years past, funding efforts were made during the holiday season; however, with so many others involved in raising money for their good causes, the Sunshine Society did not join in the gift giving requests this year, which meant other means needed to be sought to strengthen the budget to cover postage costs.

And so, like others, we responded to the generous offer that Shaw’s has made, and have placed a "Shaws’ Receipt Box" in McCulloughs Quik Stop in Royalton. These receipts have helped immensely, and are so very, very much appreciated. By saving Shaws’ receipts and donating them to the Sunshine Society, you will be making a real difference in the lives of so many older, shut-in folks.
