The Randolph varsity gymnasts had an away meet against Milton and Essex at Essex High School on Wednesday, Jan. 23. This meet was another season record-breaker for the gymnasts where they scored a 110. Even though the team is the smallest it’s been in years, the gymnasts managed to accomplish this. Vault was a very strong start to the meet, with Lacy Dezan, Bryn Keenhold, and Jenna Miller achieving their new highest scores. Keenhold scored highest for the team with an 8.3, Dezan closely followed with a 7.95, and Miller right behind with a 7.85. Brook Sargeant also had a strong vault achieving one of her highest scores. On bars there were many stuck routines and new moves added into routines. Kim Francis and Stephanie Deyette both worked hard to get new high scores. Sam McPhetres also got a new high score of 5.7 with a stuck routine. There were also many stuck routines on beam, making it the best ever night on beam for the team. Deyette, Keenhold, and McPhetres all completed their routines without a single fall. Deyette achieved her new high score, as did Keenhold with an 8.25, placed fourth out of all three teams. On floor the girls competed clean routines with powerful tumbling. Sargeant executed a wonderful routine earning one of her highest scores. Miller and Dezan both earned their new high scores with artistic routines. Three of the gymnasts competed all-around and Francis got her highest all-around score for the year with Keenhold placing third for the meet. Overall the meet was a great reward for all of their hard work this season. The gymnasts will be competing at South Burlington this Saturday, Feb. 2. |
