•Auction co-sponsored by Lukana’s Dream and Vt. Law School to raise money to build a school in Peru; silent and live auction items, music by live band, begins 6:30 p.m., Chase Center, Vt. Law School, South Royalton.

•Bridge night at the Pines in Chelsea, meets every other Thursday, come at 6:30 p.m. to eat and/or 7 p.m. to play. Beginners encouraged, all levels welcome.

Friday, Feb. 1

Saturday, Feb. 2

•Open Mike, live music and poetry for youth under age 21, 7 p.m., Kimball House, Randolph Ave., Randolph.

•Tai Chi and Qigong with Catherine Freese, ongoing classes, all levels welcome, 9-10 a.m., Vt. Independent School of the Arts, 7 Stars Center, Rte. 14, Sharon. Info: 763-2334.

•Strafford "Mardi Gras" celebration: come in costume, bring the family, free photos 6:45-7 p.m., music begins 7 p.m. with Panhandlers Steel Drum band and Legendary Strafford Blues Band, plus food, Mardi Gras King and Queen contest, prizes for limbo, best costumes, dance and mask, Barrett Hall, South Strafford. Proceeds benefit Newton School PTA.

Sunday, Feb. 3

•Winter Fest 2008 sponsored by the Rochester Recreation Committee, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at Rochester High School and SKATESPACE (to right of RHS), includes skating, snowmobile rides, sleigh rides, a hockey game, snowshoe fun, refreshments for sale by RHS sophomore class.
