Lady Phoenix
Lose 1, Win 1
By Dustin Parker

Last Tuesday the Lady Phoenix hosted a tough Oxbow team. This game had been circled on TSA's calendar all year. The Lady Phoenix played a very good game for having just seven players as opposed to Oxbow's 12.

TSA faced a full court press the entire game. The first quarter ended with a rhyming score of 7-11. Emily Chadwick scored the first three points for TSA, while Annie McRay chipped in four.

The second period would be a true definition of how tough the Lady Phoenix can fight back, as they have so many times this year. At quarter's end, TSA had defeated the full court press and come back enough to be tied with the Eagles, 18-18. Abra Atwood put in an easy lay in, Taylor Faccio got fouled on a rebound and put it back for the three-point play. Emily Chadwick hit a fade away sky hook, like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar used to do, and Kinnarney drained a pair from the charity stripe.

The third quarter has been trouble for the Phoenix all season. TSA started off good but hit a snag with the offense. The Lady Phoenix could not get the ball across half court without a turnover for about a three-minute time frame. When TSA finally did, they found Robin Spencer under the hoop for an easy two points. After three quarters, the Lady Phoenix were trailing 37-26.

The fourth quarter didn’t see much more offensive production for Sharon. Elyza Chadwick would take over with six points in the quarter, all on jump shots from the corner. The Phoenix fell short by 11 in this one, with the final score 46-35.

Elyza Chadick and McRay had 8 points. Oxbow’s Kayla Musty had 9.

Win at Rochester

After a week’s rest, the Phoenix traveled to Rochester to take on their Central Vermont League foe. The game was a nail biter every minute. At the end of one quarter, neither team had an advantage with the score deadlocked at 17.

TSA kept the same intensity in the second quarter and led at halftime by four, 36-32.

With the third quarter monkey jumping on their backs, TSA was able to keep their composure and leave the quarter with a three-point advantage. TSA held a 12-point lead at one point, but Rochester knocked most of that down.

With the third quarter behind them, the Phoenix kept the momentum on their side and came out victorious in the end. The final score was 63-60. McRay had a great game with 22 points, Emily Chadwick added 15.
