This week The Rochester Lady Rockets played three games, two at home and one away. On Wednesday, Jan. 9, Rochester made the trip to Cabot and beat them, 57-31. Rochester’s shot was on that night, and the amount of foul shots they made won them the game. Senior Samantha Mishkit was high scorer with 16 points. Back home, on Saturday the 12th, West Rutland came to give Rochester a run for their money. The game was close the entire way through. Rochester pulled ahead by two points at the very end and started to run the clock down. They held onto the lead to win, 55-53. Mishkit was high scorer again with 18 points. Then, just a few days later on Tuesday, Jan. 15, the Rockets were matched up with the Sharon Academy. The Rockets knew that Sharon, being seeded third, would be a rough game. Junior Midori Cruikshank was out for this game and the West Rutland game because she hurt her bum ankle in the Cabot game. Freshman Daley Crowley played center the entire game. Rochester started off fouling early, and by the end of the game one person fouled out and two others had four fouls. The final score was 63-60, Sharon. In the last two minutes of the game, Rochester had an eight-point deficit, and they were on their way back, but as freshman Miranda Shepard took the three-pointer at the final buzzer, she missed. Shepard though had made three three-pointers throughout the game. Senior Desiree Bourassa made five three-pointers in the game and had the high score of the night with 16 points. ____________ |
