Irene L. Berg

GROTON, CONN.—Irene L Berg, 82, died Friday January 11, 2008 at the Bayview Health Care Center in Waterford, Conn.

She was born August 16, 1925 in Randolph, the daughter of Marvel and Gertrude Slack Beal.

She attended school in Vermont, earning her nursing degree from Gifford Memorial Hospital in Randolph, and continuing her nursing education at the University of Vermont at Burlington. She was a nurse at the Key West Naval Hospital and the Boston Children’s Hospital, as well as at several Connecticut facilities, including the Camelot and Groton Regency. She retired in 1985.

She married Romaine M. Berg August 16, 1952.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, three children: Michael Berg of Groton, Conn.; Kim Meyer of Uncasville, Conn.; and Karen Berg of Waterford, Conn.; her sister, Audrey Crippen, and four grandchildren: Tracy Kuhl, Stephanie Meyer-Ready, Heidi Berg, and James Meyer; and four great grandchildren.

Memorial services are private. Mystic Funeral Home in Mystic, Conn. is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to United Cerebral Palsy 1660 L Street, NW, Suite 700, Washington, D.C. 20036.
