Ghost Gymnasts Start Off Season
By Felicia Dieffenbach

The RUHS Ghost gymnasts put their heart and soul into their practices to achieve greater difficulty, as well as earn respectable scores. The team now has four girls competing on every event with other team members pushing all the way to fill in gaps. Together they have improved their team scores by several points each meet.

Bryn Keenhold and Sam McPhetres have improved with several new tricks on bars and flipping on floor. Lacey Dezan and Jenna Miller have stepped up on their beam routines, earning team scores at each meet. Brook Sargeant overcame an injury to come back with bigger moves on floor and bars.

Kim Francis and Stephanie Deyette have built true team spirit competing in events where the team was short. Every beam competitor has stuck their routine this early in the season. The team also won the dance competition against eight teams at the state invitational in South Burlington.

The next home meets are January 11 and February 8. Come and enjoy the show.

Whitcomb Independent

Mikayla Dieffenbach, a Whitcomb independent gymnast, finished first all-around against Champlain Valley and then again against Milton. In her first meet of the season against Middlebury, she captured first on floor and vault, third on beam but did not competeon bars to have an all-around place.

At the State Invitational in South Burlington, Dieffenbach drew a first on vault, second on bars and beam and fourth on floor with a second all-around, missing first by two tenths. Dieffenbach is off to a great start and aiming to secure a place at the state meet in February at Essex.
