But Jacobs Is Back!

Guy Ghosts Drop Two

The Randolph boys’ basketball team dropped their first two games of the new year, both close matches.

At home on January 2, the Guy Ghosts fell to Lyndon, 49-44, in a hard-fought match that saw the Ghosts rebounding in the fourth quarter from a 12-point deficit in the third.

Randolph’s top scorer was Jon White, with 20; Dave Cooch and Nik Bent each chipped in 7.

The boys traveled to Lamoille last Friday, Jan. 4, where a rash of turnovers late in the fourth quarter resulted in a 40-38 loss.

Coach Bruce Viens said the team was up by 6 with 2:40 left, when the turnover problem handed the momentum to Lamoille.

Both teams had trouble making their shots, which has been "the story of the season" for the Ghosts, he said.

However, senior Kyle Connolly had a good night, with 15 points and seven rebounds, and junior Jon White added another 13 points.

The Ghosts, now 2-5, were buoyed this week by the return of senior forward Thomas Jacobs, who has been out all season with a shoulder injury.

The boys traveled to People’s Academy last night, and have an away game in Montpelier, Friday. (Note that the handout schedules inaccurately list tomorrow’s game as being at Harwood.)

The next home game is Monday, Jan. 14, against Northfield.
