Dr. Ruth Smith ROCHESTER—Dr. Ruth Frankey Smith, 77, died December 27, 2007 at Helen Porter Health & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury. She was born August 2, 1930 in Stockton, N.Y. She studied at Columbia University and served as librarian of the faculty of Yale University Medical School before moving to Vermont. She was employed as a psychotherapist, both in private practice and at the Brandon Training School. She moved to Rochester from Shelburne in 1999. She enjoyed oil painting, cooking, traveling, good music and being in the great outdoors. She was a writer and was currently working on a historical novel. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Smith. Survivors include a niece Beverly Westacott and her husband, George, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and a grand niece, Jennifer Westacott of Rochester, N.Y.; as well as many newfound and longtime friends. A memorial service in celebration of her life was held Monday, Jan. 7 at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon, with the Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church, officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date in Stockton, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. ____________ |
