Judge Pease
Mis-states Hours

This letter is in response to the Cesari interview with Prudence Pease and Moe Brown as published in last week’s Herald. In that interview Ms. Pease, once again, is trying to mislead the people of Orange County.

In the article, Pease is quoted as saying "I felt a sentiment at the meeting that I’m only employed 12 hours a week but I actually work more than 40." Let me refresh Ms. Pease’s memory. At the budget meeting, Pease stated that she works approximately 12 to 12-1/2 hours per week on County business. Pease does NOT work 40 hours a week for us. Pease is paid approximately $17/hour by the State of Vermont to sit on court cases. Is she working 40+ hours a week? NO she is not. Again, by her own admission, Pease works 12 to 12-1/2 hours a week for Orange County.

How many of you are working 40+ hours a week but still get NO retirement at all and have to pay either a portion or all of your health insurance? At 12 hours a week (or less), the assistant judges should have no right to receive any benefits at all.
