Local Company Gives Christmas In response to a call from Waverly Carucci of Newport, N.H., First Choice Restoration owner Bill Holbrook of Randolph has donated his company’s services to a Newport family whose home was severely damaged by fire. The fire happened December 16 in Newport, which is 20 miles south of West Lebanon, N.H., when a stovepipe for the wood stove detached from the chimney and the resulting fire caused severe damage to the second story of the house. The family, which has three teenage children, had no insurance. The fire had destroyed the second floor, where the teenagers’ bedrooms were and the main floor suffered water and smoke damage. "This past week, we went in and did minor demolition and some cleaning and deodorizing and drying out of the building, so the family could return home for Christmas," Holbrook told The Herald late last week. First Choice specializes in cleaning up water and fire damage and does mold testing and remediation. The company’s six employees, who volunteered their time, along with Holbrook, put in an estimated 56 hours of volunteer labor. The company also donated the supplies and equipment used during the week. ____________ |
