Start Season 2-0
By Dustin Parker

The Lady Phoenix played Mid Vermont Christian Academy last Tuesday and won the match-up 46-19.

The first quarter was a close one, with Abra Atwood leading the Phoenix with four points in the quarter. At the end of the period, the Lady Phoenix had the advantage with a 7-2 margin.

The second quarter was more of the same, with TSA getting shots from all players. Atwood added two more, while Elyza Chadwick and Erin Kinnarney each had two points as well. Robin Spencer contributed three points in the quarter. Heading into the locker room, the Lady Phoenix increased their lead with a 16-7 differential.

The third quarter went just as well, with Atwood adding two more to finish the night with eight points. Lane Rossi added two points, as did Spencer, while Elyza Chadwick got the first three-baller of the night for the Lady Phoenix. Annie McRay got on the board with a four-point quarter. After three periods of play, the Lady Phoenix were well on top, 29-17.

The fourth quarter wasn’t much different for Sharon. Rossi finished the night with four points, Spencer had seven and Kinnarney finished with 10. McRay drained two three-pointers for 10 points as well.

Abbie Seale would lead all scorers with 14 points out of 19 for Mid Vermont.

Win vs. Chelsea

TSA hosted Chelsea last Friday to win a close one. The final score was more like a football score, with the Lady Phoenix winning 26-19.

The first quarter was a close one in the end with the Phoenix leading by just one, 5-4. The Phoenix started to pull away in the second quarter with a 10-point period. The Phoenix played outstanding defense to hold the Lady Red Devils to a scoreless quarter. Going into the locker room, the Phoenix had a comfortable lead, 15-4.

TSA did just as well in the third quarter. The Phoenix put up nine points on the board. The Lady Red Devils bounced back from the second quarter and scored seven. After three quarters of play, Sharon was on top, 24-11.

The fourth quarter didn’t look good on paper, but the Phoenix slowed things down a little to take time off the clock. TSA only put up two points. Chelsea strove to complete a comeback, but in the end it wasn’t enough.

Kinnarney led all scorers with 12 points, Emily Chadwick and McRay had five apiece.

The leading scorer for the Red Devils was Robin Kennedy with seven points.
